Training: Immersive media and 360 film making
Immersive Media Training
When you've been creating media content for as long as we have, sharing and imparting that knowledge and experience with others feels like a natural and useful thing to do. So when Real Ideas approached us to design and deliver some brand new 360 filming and editing courses we jumped at the chance.
Thanks to a grant from the Shared Prosperity Fund, Real Ideas are able to offer a limited number of part or fully funded courses for you to take a deep dive into the world of immersive content production. The training is delivered over two days and is offered in two locations. This is an opportunity to grow the 360 film-making community in the South West by improving peoples understanding and skills in the medium.
If you're based in Cornwall then the bustling community hub at Liskeard Library on the town's high street, will be the host venue. The two day course will take you though everything you need to know about storyboarding, shooting and editing 360 camera footage. You'll have access to insta X2 cameras, laptops and all the software you'll need to create and publish your very own 360 film. You may be a freelancer, estate agent or marketeer, or simply have a thirst for finding out about the possibilities for using 360 video content. Once your media is created you'll be able to view it online or on a virtual reality headset.
For Plymouth based creators we're running a slightly different two day course at The Market Hall in Devonport, home to Europe's largest immersive dome. This course will teach you how to use Instas brand new X4 camera with a focus on creating content for immersive domes. But if VR headsets or online content is your thing, then this course will still be suitable for your needs.
What do you need to bring to the training?
The most important thing to bring to either of the courses is bags of enthusiasm. An interest in 360 film making is an advantage - but any passion for media content creation will stand you in good stead. During the two day course, as well as getting to grips with the techniques of operating the camera and editing your footage for viewing, we'll also think about our audience, the story we're going to tell and the narrative techniques we'll employ to communicate our ideas to the world.
We look forward to seeing you on a course very soon. For more information contact Laura @ Real Ideas - Laura.Adams@realideas.org
